Local Lady Wishlist: Kaylan Drake Burnette

If you live in Austin, you’ll recognize Kaylan Drake Burnette as the pretty face of Kick Pleat, one of the city’s best boutiques for high end indie designers. In addition to her work for Kick Pleat, Kaylan has modeled for two of my favorites: Alyson Fox and Mociun. You can also catch her starring in the dreamy Neon Indian video Mind, Drips.  Her personal style is playful and eclectic, adjectives which describe Kaylan’s easy-breezy personality as well. Her love of music and art seamlessly make their way into her wardrobe as she gravitates towards pretty prints and fun hues—the better with which to create her own works of art. Kaylan currently studies Art History at UT–yup! beauty + brains.

Totally psyched to have Kaylan as the first participant in what will come to be a series of {mostly} local artists, musicians, chefs, designers, models and shop keepers to learn a little more about them and their own personal styles. Without further ado, the current wish list of one of the coolest ladies I know. Details, after the jump:

No.1: The Georgia bag in Sandstorm by Sedgwick: My friend Carly Beck is one half of team Sedgwick and I love that the shape of this bag is so unfussy but the print is so complex.

No.2: Bill Callahan’s Apocalypse LP: Bill Callahan’s voice is so soothing, it helps me get through the hot dog days of summer.

No. 3: Facial from Elizabeth Audry at Sabia: Who wouldn’t want a facial?

No. 4: Every Joan Didion book ever: Didion’s Slouching Towards Bethlehem changed my life, ready to follow up with more.

No. 5: Pendleton’s Fire on the Mountain Towel: I love Pendleton prints, but since most of their stuff is made of wool its awesome to have it on a terry cloth towel for summer.

No. 6: Karen Walker Perfect Day Sunglasses: Summer is so hot, and fancy sunglasses are perfect for keeping accessories to a minimum while still making a big statement.

Thanks, Kaylan!
