Local Love: Elizabeth St. Cafe

As if Bouldin Creek needed to do anything else to secure it’s spot as one of my favorite neighborhoods in Austin, it went and got itself a little French Vietnamese cafe. Opened by the masterminds behind Perla’s and Lamberts no less, this little spot is on the tippy top of my Places to Eat At Next list. Elizabeth St. serves phỏ {$11-$22} and báhn mî {$6-$8} among other specialties like gulf oysters and pork belly steamed buns. Everything looks and sounds incredible from what I’ve seen and heard.
But you know what I’m really excited about?
Breakfast báhn mî. Can you wrap your brain around that? Here’s what we’re working with: scrambled eggs, ginger pork sausage, sambal mayo. Sorry, what? How about some breakfast phỏ with a little brisket and poached egg thrown in the mix? Macarons, French donuts {not even sure what that means but I need them}, cream puffs and so much more are offered on their dreamy menus. It also happens to be the perfect spot for sharing a pot of tea and a French pastry with your sweetest pals. Elizabeth St. is located at 1501 South 1st St. and open at 7 AM on weekdays and 8 AM on weekends “to Late”. Love that.
Have you been? Are you going??

Yum! This sounds so awesome. I feel like I’ve heard of Elizabeth St. Cafe, but now I have a better idea of what it’s all about. And you’re right, the breakfast bahn mi? Sounds uber yum.

Oh man this looks amazing – I haven’t had a chocolate croissant since I went to France {and that was almost 5 years ago}. Om nom nom!
