Summer Wish List
I drive by a high school every day on my way to work and I relish in the suddenly empty baseball field and parking lot I pass by. I imagine where the kids are that I usually see skateboarding up to class or being dropped off by a parent and I can’t help but feel a little bit relieved and excited for them all at once. As if that were me having finished another year with an endless summer stretching out in front of me like the seats in an empty movie theatre on a hot day. I remember when I was younger looking at the approaching summer and just thinking how much time there was to do nothing at all.
I sometimes like to ask myself what I would do now with a whole three months in front of me with nothing to do. What would you do with all that time? Where would you go? What would you think about? Who would you meet?
Something about summer, that sticky heat, the magic of a nine o’clock sunset, the allure of the get-up-and-go daytrip, makes me want to wear only pieces that are wonderfully casual and yet unexpectedly a little dressy (<<——totally an oxymoron and also the way I want to dress all the time). A sleepy hippie blouse with thoughtful embroidery; a stacked heel with rich brown leather and a patterned strap; the perfect lagoon colored ring for poolside lounging or summery cocktails; a glamorous party dress that you really can throw on and slip off.
Wishing you a very sweet start to summer and lots of lazy days to enjoy this magical time of year.
